PLEASE HELP CHILDREN IN DORSET KEEP WARM

Published: 29 November 2020

Frances Stanford (Parish Councillor) has asked you to notice the message below from our Dorset County Councillor, Jane Somper which is about helping our poorest children in Dorset.

If anyone would like to contribute money towards clothing for Dorset children, Frances would be happy to buy on people’s behalf. Small contributions from several people could buy a good warm coat for a child. Asda children’s coats are between £18 to £28. Contact me for further information or to share your ideas regarding this.

Best wishes,

PLEASE HELP CHILDREN IN DORSET KEEP WARM

2020 has been a tough year for so many people. I'd like to be able to make it just a little bit better for children and families in Dorset. That's why I am asking those who can, to donate new, or nearly new winter coats and warm pyjamas for children under 12.
Outdoor play is so good for children, with winter drawing in I want to support Dorset children to stay warm and dry. Providing a warm coat is a significant cost for many families. Over the first couple of weeks of December, Dorset Council will collect, sort and distribute coats and warm pyjamas to children under 12 who need them.
They will accept new and nearly new coats and jackets in all shapes and sizes – although heavy-duty styles are the most needed, particularly if they’re weather resistant. I am also collecting warm pyjamas. If you’re not sure if your donations are in a good enough condition, all I'd ask people to not give anything you wouldn’t want to receive yourself.
How it works..
There will be one week where people can drop off items, a few days for the clothing to become fully COVID-free, and then a week where families can drop-in and pick-up coats and PJs. No checks, forms or pre-booking. Simply help where it’s needed.
Drop-off: Friday 3rd - Thursday 10th December
Please support this worthwhile cause by dropping your items in to Parish Councillor Frances Stanford in Stour Row or St Bartholomew's Church Foyer, Church Lane, Sutton Waldron, DT11 8PB - there is parking outside so easily accessible - open between 9-4pm (NOT SUNDAY) from 3rd December - 10th December.
In some cases I will be able to collect if nearby but will need to ensure the collection and items are covid secure.
Please contact Frances Stanford or Jane Somper if you have any queries

Thank you for your support
Best wishes
Jane
